Friday Favs | Bold Headboards

Happy Friday Friends! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have caught me talking about how bedrooms are my favorite room to tackle. True story! I am not sure what it is about bedrooms, but I love designing them. If we could live in a house with 15 bedrooms I would be so excited! Not about cleaning them however 😉 With that in mind, a headboard roundup seemed appropriate for today!Garrison Street Design Studio - Friday Favs | Bold HeadboardsThis post contains affiliate links.

The first order of business I address when designing a bedroom is the bed! It is my firm belief the bed should be the center of attention and the focal point of the room. For me, that usually means a bed or a headboard that grabs your attention. When I shared a picture of our blue guest room, the headboard got a lot of attention. I used a very bold pattern from a twin sized Ikea duvet cover to re-upholster an old headboard. I went the DIY route because at the time, there were not many bold options out there to buy. But I am happy to report, that is no longer the case. There are TONS of bold headboards available and I have found some killer options all under $300 for a queen! And some are even on sale right now for less than $200! So if you have been wanting to spice up your bedrooms (not like that, this is G rated folks) then maybe it’s time to pull the trigger! Many of these do come in more neutral colors as well if you are scared 😉Garrison Street Design Studio - Friday Favs | Bold Headboards

Replacing your headboard, or even adding a headboard is a great way to update a bedroom and give it a whole new feel without spending gobs of money on all new furniture. Afraid to mix and match your bedroom set? Don’t be! In fact, I HIGHLY encourage it! All of our bedrooms have unique beds that don’t match the rest of the furniture. In our master we have the custom bed we built. In our blue guest room we have the Ikea hack I mentioned above. And in our other guest room is a headboard I bought on Wayfair. Your bed doesn’t have to be matchy matchy. Trust me, you can do it 🙂 Are you brave enough to take on one of these bold headboards? If so, which one would you choose?

  1. Have you ever tried reupholstering larger furniture? I want to purchase an rv, but hate the couches in them. I think we need an rv makeover! Redo the wallpaper and the furniture. Totally fitting for Co readers 😎.

    1. I have never done RV cushions but did try my hand at a free couch in college. Let’s just say it wasn’t my best work. I think making over an entire RV would be so fun! And depending on the style of the cushions/couch, you may just be able to have some slip covers made. If you need some design help, let me know 😉
