Design Inspiration | Modern Rustic Mountain Living Rooms
Hey guys! I am back with another round of Design Inspiration! For this round of inspiration I channeled a dream project of ours. Ever since we moved to Colorado, we have dreamed of buying a second home in the mountains. A place to go to unwind and escape the hustle and bustle, but most importantly, a place for us to really enjoy the amazing outdoor life our beautiful state has to offer, like skiing 🙂

At the moment, this is just a dream. We actively looked a few years ago, but ultimately never pulled the trigger. But I always day dreamed about how I would incorporate my modern style into a rustic setting. While buying a second home is definitely not in our immediate future, unless we win the lottery, I love experimenting with new styles and challenging myself to push my design limits. As a result, I put together three different designs marrying my modern style with a cozy rustic mountain vibe.
The blue approach. I started each of my three designs with the same furnishings and switched up a few elements for a new look. I fell hard for this geometric blue rug and love how it really plays up the modern vibe and adds a rich punch of color.
Sofa | Chair | Pouf | Fireplace | Coffee Table | Side Table | Floor Lamp | Table Lamp | Succulents | Deer Head | Tree Ring Art | Animal Skull Art | Fur Pillows | Throw Blanket | Jack | Gray Pillow | Rug | Curtains
The neutral approach. When I think of a mountain retreat I can’t help but think of neutral colors with lots of texture and cozy elements. And what says cozy more than fur pillows and an electric fireplace!?

The fun approach. For this design I added an unexpected pop of color and pattern to really play up the modern element. While the rug is a bit more wild, I still think the neutral elements and soft textures lend a very cozy vibe.

I had so much fun designing these living rooms! I seriously don’t think I can choose a favorite. Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

Room number 1, with the blue rug! Love it! Definitely the look we will be asking you to help design in our future house. I call it Mtn man marries city girl!
Yes, I think that is appropriate 😉 I would love to help you design your next home!
