We are now in the second to last week of the One Room Challenge. Originally, this was supposed to be the last week, but it was extended due to weather/natural disaster issues around the country. So I wasn’t counting on having an extra week and am pretty much done, happy to say 🙂 As a result, I am going to share a fun post with you on the easy DIY art I made for this challenge. A bit less stressful than the first few weeks. If you missed all of that, catch up here on week 1, week 2, week 3, week 4, and week 5.Garrison Street Design Studio - Kitchen Makeover - DIY Art & Free PrintableFor this space, I knew I wanted to incorporate some fun art, but I didn’t want to spend a fortune, especially since we are working with only $1500 in total. And since this is my mom’s kitchen, I wanted the pieces to reflect her. I know many of us have our beverages of choice, mine is wine, but her’s is coffee. I also drink coffee and enjoy it, but my mom could seriously drink it with every meal and before bed?! Did I mention she does not drink decaf? True story. So I decided to use her love for coffee in the art. For the first piece of art I found a photographic print of a coffee roaster in action on Art.com. I framed it myself with a simple black frame I picked up at HomeGoods. But I just saw this set of two with three different matte options and it’s a bit cheaper than my HomeGoods find!Garrison Street Design Studio - Kitchen Makeover - DIY Art & Free Printable

For the next piece, I got creative and filled a shadow box with coffee beans. My mom buys coffee in bulk (imagine that!) at Costco, so I used what she had on hand, but any whole coffee beans would work. I then made a label for the glass that says “In Case of Emergency Break Glass”. Seriously, who can relate? My mom LOVES this one 🙂 In fact, I was debating gluing it shut (the one I used has hinges and is magnetic) because I was afraid the weight of the beans would pop it open. When I asked my mom’s opinion, she said, “Glue it. If I really need ’em, I’ll just break the glass”. HAHAHA!  Garrison Street Design Studio - Kitchen Makeover - DIY Art & Free PrintableThe last piece I chose to DIY entirely, minus the frame. I made a simple graphic and framed it with a second frame I snagged at HomeGoods. The best part about this one is, I am offering it as a free printable to all of my email subscribers! Just sign up for my newsletter and I will send you a link to download it and you can print it at home!
